Beckham Scores For L.A.

Published by Craig under Across The Pond

The only news from across the pond we are likely to report will be David Beckham related. I do not follow MLS but everyone is interested in Beckham. England fans will be happy to hear that he gave a solid performance against DC United in the semi final of the SuperLiga. He scored with a trademark freekick that England had missed in his absence. He then also set up Landon Donovan who scored the second. Beckham, whos L.A. Galaxy side are sitting at the wrong side of the MLS table are now looking at some silverware already this season (granted their season started months before ours). LA Galaxy will now take on Mexican side CF Pachuca on 29 August for the SuperLiga title.

Beckham Finally Makes MLS Debut

Published by graeme under Across The Pond

David Beckham finally made his MLS debut for Los Angeles Galaxy on Thursday but couldn’t prevent his side from losing 1-0 to DC United. He came on as a substitute in the 72ND minute with LA Galaxy already losing and played in the centre of midfield and provided two or 3 decent opportunities with the strikers failed to convert. The game was watched by England coach Steve McClaren who was in the crowd. Providing Beckham has no adverse reaction he will start full training with his team mates and will slowly regain his fitness in the coming weeks.
